›Can a ceiling fan go where my light fitting is now?
Usually yes, but the existing mounting point needs reinforcement to carry the fan's weight and movement. The electrician will add proper fan supports, then fit the fan and switch in the same visit.
›What size fan do I need for my room?
As a rough guide, small bedrooms suit 107–122cm fans, main bedrooms and living areas 132–142cm, and large open spaces 152cm and above. The electrician can confirm the right size on site.
›Do ceiling fans use much power?
Very little — most modern DC fans cost just a few cents an hour to run, even on high. Pair a fan with your air con and you can raise the thermostat a few degrees for the same comfort at lower cost.
