›Does a split system air conditioner need an electrician?
Yes. The refrigerant work is done by the air con installer, but the dedicated electrical circuit, isolator and wiring must be done by a licensed electrician. Coordinating both means the install goes in one smooth visit.
›Can I run an air conditioner from a normal power point?
Larger split systems draw more current than a standard outlet is rated for. It may work briefly, but it's unsafe, can void the warranty, and will trip breakers. A dedicated circuit is the correct solution.
›Will my old switchboard handle a new air conditioner?
